AT&T Device Protection: Everything You Need to Know

If you don’t have device insurance, things like water damage, a cracked screen, or a lost device can cause a lot of stress. Replacing your device can get really expensive, and many of us don’t budget for a broken device.

The good news, however, is we are in a period of time called open enrollment.

What is open enrollment?

Similar to other types of insurance, device insurance has a limited window of time, called open enrollment, when you can purchase or change your insurance plan. Open enrollment runs February 1 – March 31, 2021. The only other time that customers can buy insurance is within 30 days of a new activation or device upgrade. This means that if you’ve already had your device for more than 30 days, this is another chance for you to enroll.

AT&T customers will have three great options for phone insurance plans. Here is a summary of what you can expect from each of them.

1 Same-Day Replacement: Eligibility is based on certain criteria, including device model/type, location, and inventory availability. Claims must be filed and approved by 4pm. Eligibility is determined at time of claim approval and is contingent on certain criteria. Same-day replacement is not available for Mobile Insurance customers.

2 Next-day replacement:

Claims fulfilled with a replacement device and approved by 6 p.m. ET will be shipped and, in most cases, delivered the next day. Deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands cannot be shipped for next-day delivery. Claims may be fulfilled with new or AT&T Certified Restored equipment, which is previously opened, and/or used (which may be refurbished or remanufactured, and may contain original or non-original replacement parts) of the same model or other models of like kind and quality. The ProTech app and Photo Storage app require a compatible device with AT&T wireless service. Technical limits may prevent certain features from working on all devices. App functionality requires the device to be powered on and connected to the internet. Accuracy, availability and timeliness are not guaranteed.
